Together for a sustainable trade fair presence and a green future!

Trade shows are the platforms of the future. During the trade show days, experts from all over the world gather to offer their future technologies, discuss approaches to solutions and enter into new collaborations. Events of this magnitude have enormous value for the economy. At the same time, we must be aware: Greenhouse gas emissions are released at every event. Together with partners, we have set out to develop measures for a more sustainable trade show industry and to fulfill our social responsibility. After all, sustainability and climate protection must be actively lived - this also includes a sustainable trade show presence.

Consciously avoiding emissions

If you use your time on site selectively and intensively for business contacts and personal meetings, you save on individual travel to customers, partners, and service providers. In addition, you will have other opportunities to avoid emissions, save raw materials, and protect the environment during your trade fair appearance at productronica 2025.

Act sustainably on site

  • Sustainable stand construction: Discuss sustainable stand construction options with your stand builder. With WOODï, our partner meplan offers you a stand concept that is aesthetic, flexible and individual. Thanks to its modularity and clever circularity, WOODï makes your trade fair presentation easier and more sustainable than ever before. woodï creates measurable added value and also helps you fulfil your ESG obligations.
  • In celebration of its 50th anniversary, productronica has launched a special project in collaboration with woodï that combines technological history with a commitment to the future. Thanks to your support, a new forest is growing!
  • Decide whether you really need giveaways. If so, choose options that are produced under sustainable and fair conditions and that your customers can use for as long as possible.
  • Don´t print your ticket. It is sufficient if you scan the ticket on your cell phone at the entrance. There you will receive a badge. This way you save paper. Also inform your customers about this when you invite them to the trade fair.
  • Climate-conscious catering: Reduce meat dishes and focus on regional and seasonal ingredients. Also talk to your caterer about how to reduce food waste.

Environmentally friendly infrastructure

  • Form car pools if you are traveling by car.
  • Climate-friendly travel: Thanks to the seamless connection of the trade fair center to Munich's public transport system, you are always right in the middle of the action. This not only protects the environment, but also your wallet.
  • Green refueling on site: 110 stations are available on the exhibition grounds for charging your electric vehicle.

Appreciate and conserve paper

  • Check whether the number of printed advertising materials can be reduced and focus more on digitalization.
  • Good printing: Work with printers that are committed to sustainability and use FSC-certified environmental paper.

Guide to waste prevention

Waste is generated before, during and after the trade fair. In order to minimize the amount of waste generated, certain aspects should be taken into account in the early planning phase. This guide is intended to help you identify and implement ways to reduce waste through careful preparation and design.

Thanks to your support, a new forest is growing!

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, productronica is sponsoring 50 tree seedlings and, together with woodï, is launching a special project that combines technological history with responsibility for the future.

>> How to contribute

For productronica 2023, these projects have been supported

Your contribution to climate protection is made by supporting the high-quality myclimate climate protection projects, which meet the highest standards (Gold Standard, Plan Vivo) and, in addition to reducing greenhouse gases, demonstrably make a positive contribution to sustainable development locally and regionally. The collected GoGreen climate protection contributions are divided between the following regional and international climate protection projects.

Project type: Land Use and Forestry

Project location: Deutschland, Freistaat Bayern

Project status: In operation, regional climate protection without entitlement to CO2 emissions reduction certificates

Annual CO₂ reduction: Ca. 13,500 t CO2e bis 2050

Situation without project: Forest conversion of lower speed

The installation of domestic biogas plants substitutes the use of firewood and chemical fertilizers in the Karnataka region. In addition to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and less degradation of the forest people directly profit from higher crop yields and less indoor pollution. Moreover, the project will also reduce methane emissions from cattle manure.

Situation without project:
Using firewood and kerosene for cooking

Yearly CO₂ reduction:
45,650 t

Your support contributes to the following 11 Sustainable Development Goals:

SDG 1 - No poverty
The use of slurry (organic fertilizer produced by the farmers themselves) helps to prevent small farmers from becoming dependent on chemical fertilizers, thus improving their families’ financial situation.

SDG 2 - Zero hunger
To date, the biogas systems have produced 301,534 tons of organic fertilizer and thus reduced 6,130 tons of chemical fertilizer, thus contributing to sustainable agriculture.

SDG 3 - Good health and well-being
50,000 persons have benefited from better air quality since the start of the project.

SDG 4 - Quality education
Because the time-consuming collection of firewood is no longer necessary, children have more time to go to school and do homework. This gives each family almost 1.2 hours of additional time per day.

SDG 5 - Gender equity
Only women are entitled to buy and own a biogas plant. This helps to level out the balance of power in the family and to strengthen the position of the women.

SDG 7 - Affordable and clean energy
8,033 biogas digesters have been installed since the start of the project.

SDG 8 - Decent work and economic growth
22 permanent jobs have been created for the local population and more than 8,000 people have been trained in the use of biogas plants.

SDG 12 - Responsible consumption and production
The recycling of organic waste contributes to sustainable waste management.

SDG 13 - Climate actions
Each biogas biodigester avoids 6.5 t CO₂ and reduced wood consumption by 3.7 t per year.

SDG 15 - Life on land
To date, the program has reduced wood consumption by 221,054 tons and has thus saved 3,028 hectares of forest from deforestation.

SDG 17 - Partnerships for the goals
The program enables the transfer, dissemination and implementation of environmentally friendly technologies in India

The primary objective of the program is to disseminate water purification systems to low-income households and institutions such as schools, starting in Uganda. Carbon finance is used to give households access to the clean water technologies thereby improving the livelihoods and health conditions of thousands of people and at the same time reducing CO₂ emissions by reducing the consumption of non-renewable firewood and charcoal.

Situation without project:
Water purification by boiling with non-renewable wood and charcoal

Yearly CO₂ reduction:
61.399 t

Your support contributes to the following 8 Sustainable Development Goals:

SDG 1 - No poverty
Over 130 tons of firewood can be saved by a school on average per water filtration system.

SDG 3 - Good Health
More than 210,000 pupils benefit from the installed systems.

SDG 4 - Quality Education
Thanks to clean drinking water, pupils are ill less often and can attend school more regularly.

SDG 6 - Clean water and sanitary facilities
One school can treat 457,000 litres of drinking water per year.

SDG 12 - Responsible consumption and production
354 water filter tanks and water treatment filters have been installed so far.

SDG 13 - Climate Actions
50,000 tonnes of CO₂ are saved per year.

SDG 15 - Life on land
1,266 hectares of forest saved from deforestation.

SDG 17 - Partnerships for the goals
Development, transfer and distribution of environmentally friendly water treatment technology.
