Additive Manufacturing at the Nanoscale

Lecture Hall B2 Innovation Forum

16:10 -16 :25 h | Hall B2 .441

Subjects: Organic and printed electronics

Speaker: Pascal Boncenne (Hummink)

Type: Lecture

Speech: English

Part of the session: Printing Technologies and Materials

The future is driven by innovative nano-electronic objects, but no one can assemble them. Hummink can.
We provide a breakthrough additive manufacturing technology that breaks the compromise between miniaturization and complexity at the nanometric scale. It can be seen as the smallest fountain pen in the world, that can be used with any material, with an unprecedented freedom of design and resolution. This opens a wide range of possibilities for faster, smaller, purer and cheaper assembling for innovative electronics products. In a word, we are the masons of the nanometric world.
Hummink is a startup created in 2020 and spun-off from the physics labs of Ecole Normale Supérieure and Institut Pierre-Gilles de Gennes in Paris. It uses a revolutionary and patented method that works as a direct nanoprinting technique. Our first product is a prototyping machine that integrates our additive manufacturing technology. It offers a unique combination of features for manufacturing at the nanoscale. Hummink provides the missing link to researchers and industrialists who have great nano-electronics objects in mind but can’t assemble them. Hummink unlocks the potential of breakthrough innovation in various printed electronics related industries: nanometric electrodes for high-resolution molecular analysis, graphene-based transistors for artificial neurons, tailor-made connectors for quantum computing circuits (cutting down computing errors), packaging, sensors for THz (6G) and aerospace applications (increasing signal and reducing weight of flying objects), micro-LED fabrication, etc.
