Battery manufacturing and power electronics
When it comes to the hype topic of electromobility, batteries,
electrical storage solutions and power electronics play a key role because they determine a system’s performance, reliability and price. As a result, the challenge is to ensure that new technologies that maximize battery performance work in mass production. Electronics manufacturing showed how it’s done with breathtaking speed – cost-effective manufacturing techniques are a central theme of
productronica! For this reason, we have broadened our traditional focus and made batteries and energy-storage manufacturing a highlight of the fair. As part of a special show in close cooperation with the
VDMA Productronics Association, RWTH Aachen and leading
companies, for the first time ever the process used to produce a
battery cell will be shown in its entirety.

This highlight topic will be examined and discussed in detail at the Innovation Forum
in Hall B2 on Wednesday, November 16, 2011.

The entire program of events and lecture times are available here.

VDMA industry film battery manufacturing

The global mobile future lies in electric vehicles, and future power supply depends on renewable energies. How quickly e-mobility, wind, water and solar power will successfully prevail mainly depends on the battery as a key technology. High-performance batteries, e.g. with Lithium-ion cells, still remain very expensive. Automated large-scale production is the only way to make the product "battery" cheaper: this is both a challenge and an opportunity for innovative solutions of the German engineering industry.
