Batteries for
electric automobiles and storage devices for energy produced from wind and the
sun are more than just “larger versions of laptop batteries”. Long service life
and high cyclic stability are just as important as low power dissipation and
handling safety – in cold and hot conditions alike. When it comes to mobile
applications, high energy density and crash safety are also important. However,
one of the greatest challenges is lowering production costs. This is only
possible using highly integrated, automated mass production and interaction
between producers, suppliers, machine manufacturers and researchers. At this
special show, productronica will demonstrate all of the processing steps that
it takes to produce a battery cell, from coating the electrode material to the
finished module. The show will feature machines, processes, automation
technology, intermediate products and final products – as well as a “virtual
factory” from RWTH Aachen, which promises to be a special highlight. Moderated
by experts, the virtual factory will allow visitors to interactively put
together a battery factory and develop cost scenarios. As part of this
highlight topic, committed companies and institutes will present the latest
information about markets, technologies and strategies that pertain to battery
production at the Innovation Forum.
